The Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC) is pleased to announce the release of a Training Gaps Analysis (TGA) for Location Managers. This snapshot of training needs and offerings will help guide the film and television industry and its National Training Advisory Council (NTAC) in the effective deployment of the country's training resources.
The TGA aims to answer the following questions: what perception do location managers have of their degree of mastery of the skills identified in the Chart of Competencies for location managers? which educational and training institutions, and which professional organizations offer training in location management? and to what extent do the Canadian training offerings meet the training needs?
The location managers consulted agreed that their work involved important and demanding challenges, such as scouting locations in a tight timeframe, interfacing with the public, budgetary management in a context of limited resources, and identifying locations to meet script requirements.
The four recommendations made in the Training Gaps Analysis are aimed at fostering a strategy for the development of location manager skills that reflects both employer needs and issues and the needs of those working in the field.
