Cumberland
Nestled a the foot of the Beaufort Range, Cumberland was bustling coal mining town from 1888 to 1966, it still retains it’s frontier heritage look. Cumberland once boasted a diversified ethnic population, including one of the largest Asian populations north of San Francisco. Today, Cumberland draws visitors with its colourful history and wonderful family activities.
From Nanaimo, travel North along Hwy 19 until you take exit 117 to Cumberland/Courtenay/Comox. Next, bear left at Comox Valley Pky (about 1 hr 15 min).
