Revised Notice of Filming - Sonic

Dear Merchants and Residents of “Area H”, Regional District of Nanaimo, near Vancouver Island Highway 19,
Due to the inconsistent weather systems experienced in recent days, and likely the balance of the week Hedgehog Films Inc., will be extending its filming dates for the feature film entitled “SONIC” for Paramount Pictures, Sept 10th to Sept 14th with the potential for the following dates Sept 15, 16 or 17 as proposed inclement weather options, in an effort to circumvent rain. Again, our targeted section of Highway is Island Highway 19 from the Cook Creek interchange South to Horne Lake Road Interchange, between the hours of 6:00AM to 9:00PM each day. At this time, we would like to provide you with some information to help you prepare for our arrival and anticipate how our activity might affect your daily routines.
Our significant action consists of a pickup truck being chased and forced to stop on the highway.
- ALL TIMES ARE APPROXIMATE -
Filming activity will begin at approximately 6:00am each morning.
Sept 10 to 14 from 6:00AM to 9:00PM daily.
(Should we experience any inclement weather, we’re proposing the following dates, Saturday Sept 15th, Sunday Sept 16th or Monday Sept 17th as an alternate day in lieu of a rainy day. The inclement weather day(s) will be released and replaced).
Hedgehog Films Inc., will always endeavor to provide our actors and stunt drivers with a secure and safe working environment. Your cooperation with this activity is very much appreciated. We understand concerns regarding “highway detour” and will do our very best to expedite re-opening the highway, once scenes are completed each day.
Hedgehog Films Inc., has been working diligently with local communities and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MoTI) in an effort to minimize impacts on the area. We have arranged a detour route onto Highway 19A during these times. This in an effort to keep the traffic flowing North and South, around the Cook Creek Interchange South to Horne Lake Road Interchange.
We emphasize that changes to the highway detours are temporary and appreciate your cooperation during these times.
